Yann Gboho, who came to TFC at the beginning of the week, will be in the group that will go to Metz on Sunday, January 14 for the 18th day of Ligue 1. Toulouse coach Carles Martinez talks to us about his profile.
Six days after his arrival at TFC was made official, Yann Gboho will wear his new jersey at Metz on the 18th day of Ligue 1. The Haut-Garonne club’s first (and for now only) signing of this winter transfer window, the 22-year-old will be part of the group for the trip to Lorraine. He could even start the meeting.
A match in which Carles Martinez will be deprived of many elements, especially in the offensive zone. Zakaria Abouhlal is injured, Frank Magri is at CAN, Niklas Schmidt’s health remains uncertain and his presence in Metz is also uncertain. TFC also added Yanis Begraoui (Pau) and Mamady Bangré (Troyes) on loan during the transfer period.
The Catalan coach therefore said he was “very happy” to be able to trust Gboho and was pleased with his new player’s few training sessions. “It’s a profile that suits us very well and will help us a lot: he can play as a number 10, he can also play as a winger. He can also play outside the centre, but he can also turn inside and help the team.”
“He is more of an attacker than a midfielder,” Martinez explains. “He likes to receive the ball between the lines, he likes the pass, he likes the decisive pass,” he lists. As for what position he plans to play the player, who grew up in Rennes, the coach states that “it will depend on the match.”

Carles Martinez, after experimenting with 10 players in the left wing position, may choose this option for Yann Gboho, who has played in this position several times this season with his former club Cercle Bruges.
