This is the first race of the season and first victory for Caleb Ewan, now in the colors of Team JaycoAlUla. The Australian sprinter won the criterium race at the Australian Championships. He won the race ahead of compatriots Jensen Plowright (Alpecin-Deceuninck) and Sam Welsford (Boro-hansgrohe). It was a near-perfect race but ended with a mistake that caused another runner to fall violently.

This is what the crash at yesterday’s Australian national criterium championships looked like. ?

I hope all the drivers involved are okay.

An ending decline in public opinion

Caleb Ewan was found guilty of causing a rider from the CCache x Par Cube team to crash just before the end of the race while leading the peloton. The Australian sprinter veered off trajectory while trying to impale the wheel of the pilot fish, causing the other runner to fall and eventually crashing into the pavement and several people.
